The news outlet said it obtained letters to nurses and patients stating Garnet Health’s hospital in Wallkill, N.Y., will no longer have an operating room nurse on staff overnight and that several outpatient medical practices will be cut. Inpatient service lines will not be affected.
In addition, routine OB-GYN, rheumatology and pediatric care will no longer be available at Garnet Health locations in Middletown, Monticello and Harris, N.Y., according to the report.
In a statement provided to Becker’s, Garnet Health said it has “had to make some very difficult decisions,” including a financial recovery plan that resulted in the closure of certain outpatient practices.
“We are working diligently with our community partners who offer these outpatient services to ensure continuation of patient care. We are also working collaboratively with staff impacted, and their union representatives, to place them into positions they are qualified for within Garnet Health Medical Center Health,” according to the statement.
