Suncoast Credit Union Foundation has pledged $500,000 to support the construction and outfitting of the Golisano Children’s Hospital Surgery Center in Fort Myers, Fla. The five-year commitment aims to build the first outpatient surgery center for children in southwest Florida.

The facility will provide specialized surgical services — including orthopedics, ENT, general surgery and urology —  while reducing travel burdens for families and delivering care in a child-friendly setting. More than 5,000 children rely on Golisano Children’s Hospital for surgical care each year, according to a July 23 report in South Florida Hospital News.

The report adds that the pledge is part of Suncoast’s larger $900,000 investment in the Lee Health Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health, bringing its total support to nearly $3 million.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
