Iowa ASC raises $10K+ for severely injured employee

Iowa City Ambulatory Surgical Center has raised over $10,000 for an employee who was seriously injured when hit by a pickup truck last month, local ABC affiliate KCRG reports.

Heidi Burkle and her 13-year-old son were on a bicycle ride when they were struck by a pickup truck. Both were transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for treatment, local NBC affiliate KWWL reported.

The two were “severely injured,” according to a GoFundMe page created to help cover medical and travel expenses for the family. More than 500 donors have raised $47,125 as of Sept. 23.
