Hernando Endoscopy and Surgery combats wrong-site surgeries with new technology — 4 things to know

Brooksville, Fla.-based Hernando Endoscopy and Surgery is using "Site of Surgery Assistant," an app aimed at preventing wrong-site surgeries, according to Tampa Bay Times.

Here are four things to know:

1. The app features a picture of the surgical site and other essential details on the patient's wristband.

2. Various charts and adhesive labels can also print the surgical site image.

3. Ophthalmologist Srin Sutt, MD, created the app.

4. Dr. Sutt practices at Eyecare Centers of Florida in Brooksville.
