Heartland Orthopedic Specialists performs 5k joint replacements — 4 insights

Alexandria, Minn.-based Heartland Orthopedic Specialists performed its 5,000th joint replacement, since it began offering the procedures in September 2008, the Voice of Alexandria reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. Paul Dale, MD, performed the milestone surgery.

2. The total joint program was developed jointly by HOS and Alexandria-based Alomere Health. The organizations developed the program to improve the patient experience. The center performs more than 600 joint replacements annually, while touting a 99.5 percent patient satisfaction rate.

3. The 5,000th procedure was a successful knee replacement.

4. Dr. Dale is an American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons member and an American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons fellow.
