Healthcare 2017 job growth fails to keep pace with 2016: 5 things to know

Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows healthcare job growth slowed in 2017 compared to 2016, according to MedPage Today.

Here are five things to know:

1. The healthcare sector created 77,800 jobs in the first four months this year.

2. Comparatively, healthcare created 119,800 jobs in the first four months of 2016.

3. During the first four months of 2016, the hospital sector created 19,900 jobs. This figure is down 54 percent compared to last year.

4. Ambulatory services created 52,600 new jobs, down from 70,400 new jobs during the same period last year.

5. In sum, 2016 created 394,000 healthcare jobs.
