GE Healthcare to boost health startups in developing countries with $50M funding: 5 points

United Kingdom-based GE Healthcare is committing $50 million for healthcare startups in developing countries.

Here are five points:

1. GE Healthcare’s accelerator, five.eight, will focus on enhancing healthcare outcomes in developing economies.

2. five.eight will help with education and training as well as supporting the development of low-cost technologies and digital applications.

3. Portfolio companies from social impact investors — Acumen, Aavishkaar-Intellecap Group, Unitus Seed Fund and Villgro — will serve as the initial participants in the accelerator.

4. GE Healthcare may distribute the startups’ products or integrate the services into its Affordable Care Portfolio.

5. The accelerator plans to include at least 10 startups in the initial program.
