Forbes named the richest person in every state: Meet the 3 who made their wealth in health

Nearly every state in the U.S. is home to at least one billionaire, according to Forbes’ net worth tracker. Alaska, Delaware and West Virginia are the only states without one.

In three states, the richest individuals made their wealth in health and healthcare. Here are the richest residents in those three states:

Carl Cook, Indiana, $10.3 billion, is CEO of medical device manufacturer Cook Group. 

Thomas Frist Jr., Tennessee, $22.3 billion, founded Hospital Corp. of America in 1968. 

John Abele, Vermont, $1.9 billion, co-founded and is a director of medical device company Boston Scientific.
