A surgeon with Essentia Health-Virginia (Minn.), Dr. Signorelli says demand is growing since the clinic expanded its total joint replacement program. Essentia Health-Virginia launched the program after uncovering more patients were going to Duluth to have surgery, many having traveled more than an hour for the procedure.

For now, Essentia is focusing on hip and knee replacements, but has plans to expand the program in the future. For the program to continue being successful, Essentia focuses on commitment among team members, including nurses, primary care teams, surgeons and therapists.
