Here are three considerations:

1. Establish solid leadership, appointing a chief quality officer or chief value office, who grasps the legislative and regulatory demands. This person must be someone who physicians respect, trust and want to follow. Once the leadership is in place, commit your organization’s resources so physicians can actually succeed in the value-based landscape.

2. Dr. Maccioli suggests organizations strive for the Quadruple Aim — adding workplace satisfaction of physicians to the Triple Aim equation. Ensure you develop programs that don’t add another stressor for physicians, but instead empower them so they want to engage.

3. With the immense amount of data coming down the pipeline, organizations will be able to show physicians the impact of their care. Dr. Maccioli believes this “longitudinal feedback” will prove empowering for physicians.
