Here are five things to know:

1. The telescope is designed for end-stage age-related macular degeneration, which causes blindness.

2. This is a Medicare-covered procedure, and several major Medicare advantage plans also cover it, with a CPT code covering the expensive implant costs.

3. The surgeon reimbursement is often approximated to keratoprosthesis rates.

4. Dr. Brockman used the CentraSight to insert the implant, which has clinical evidence showing a significant improvement for quality of life.

5. Patients work with low vision specialists after surgery to learn more about using their new vision to support everyday activities.

The Eye Surgery Center of Tulsa is an AmSurg center led by Karen Cercy and her team.
