Dr. Peter Daly wins Dr. Thomas A. Dooley Award – 5 things to know

Orthopedic surgeon and surgery center founder Peter Daley, MD, won the Dr. Thomas A. Dooley Award for his commitment to providing care to Hondurans, according to Notre Dame News.

Here are five things to know:

1. In 2003, Dr. Daley founded Holy Family Center, a surgical facility in Honduras that provides care to those in need.

2. Since its 2008 opening, Holy Family Surgery Center’s staff has conducted 12,000 consultations and 1,700 surgeries.

3. Notre Dame grants alumni the Dooley award for those who have provided outstanding service to other individuals.

4. Dr. Daly completed his orthopedic residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

5. Following his residency, he underwent a shoulder fellowship at Harvard University in Boston.
