Dr. Elsie Koh pioneers vascular procedure in ASC — 4 highlights

Elsie Koh, MD, became the first physician in New Jersey and the greater New York City region to perform a vascular procedure using Ellipsys, an FDA-approved treatment for patients with kidney failure.

Four highlights:

1. Interventional radiologist Dr. Koh and her team performed the procedure at Azura Vascular Care Woodland Park (N.J.) on Jan. 21. The patient was a 67-year-old woman.

2. Since then, the team has completed six more procedures using Ellipsys in the ASC.

3. Avenu Medical developed Ellipsys to connect an artery to a vein via a unique catheter.

4. The minimally invasive procedure replaces an incision with a needle puncture, surgical dissection with ultrasound imaging, and sutures with tissue fusion.
