Dr. David Khorram performs cataract surgery during trip to Ghana: 5 highlights

David Khorram, MD, co-founder of Northern Mariana Islands-based Marianas Eye Institute, performed cataract surgery in Ghana, Africa, according to Marianas Variety.

Here are five highlights:

1. Dr. Khorram traveled to Ghana as a Unite for Sight Global Impact Fellow.

2. Before heading on his trip, Dr. Khorram received training on providing care in underserved communities.

3. The group of volunteers performed screenings on more than 200 patients daily.

4. Dr. Khorram worked with local ophthalmologists to perform cataract surgery at the Crystal Eye Clinic in Ghana.

5. Marianas Eye Institute provides medical eye care, surgery, laser, express glasses and contact lenses.
