Dr. B. Dean McDaniel joins Citizens Medical Center: 5 things to know

Bariatric surgeon B. Dean McDaniel, DO, joined Citizens Medical Center in Victoria, Texas, as a full time member, according to the Victoria Advocate.

Here are five things to know:

1. Dr. McDaniel serves as medical director of Citizens Bariatric Center, which he began in 2000.

2. The hospital plans to open the Citizens Weight Management Center, offering weight loss programs to those with a BMI of 30 or more.

3. Dr. McDaniel recognized there is a large population overweight, but many don’t necessitate surgery.

4. Dr. McDaniel and his team aim to support patients in a 12-week weight loss program; including food and emotional counseling, cooking classes and personal training.

5. Program details and employment are being finalized, according to the report, and the center will begin seeing patients next month.
