California’s noncompete notice deadline approaches

Employers with employees or former employees in California who are subject to noncompetition provisions must provide individualized written notice that the noncompetition clause or agreement is void by Feb. 14, law firm Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete wrote on JDSupra Feb. 12.

A failure to provide notice is subject to a penalty of $2,500 per violation.

California updated its noncompete requirements in January.
