Poughkeepsie, N.Y.-based Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County and The Surgery Center at Orthopedic Associates introduced outpatient total joint replacements at the ASC. The ASC is constructing an overnight recovery suite patients can utilize if necessary.
Compass Surgical Partners opens freestanding Florida ASC
Alongside local physicians and Davenport-based Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center, Compass Surgical Partners opened Heart of Florida Surgery Center. Heart of Florida Surgery Center is 13,000 square feet.

New York private equity firm Cortec Group's Eyeconic Vision Partners, its portfolio company, purchased Phoenix-based Swagel-Wootton Hiatt Eye Center. EVP operates six ASCs and 13 clinics.

Medical Facilities Corp. appointed Robert Horrar COO. Mr. Horrar comes to MFC after serving in various executive roles at Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Heath Systems.
HCA outpatient surgery cases down 0.2% in Q2
Hospital Corporation of America facilities performed less outpatient surgery cases in the second quarter of 2017 compared to the same period of 2016. In the second quarter this year, HCA facilities performed 234,215 outpatient surgery cases, compared to 234,578 in the second quarter of 2016.
The Joint Commission's 10 most reported sentinel events in Q2 2017
The Joint Commission released sentinel events for 2017 through the second quarter of fiscal year 2017. The number one most reported event was a patient fall, with a grand total of 49 report incidents in the second quarter.
New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Center elects Jeff Shanton president
The New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers elected four new officers and additional members to the board of directors. NJAASC membership elected Jeff Shanton of Jersey City, N.J.-based Journal Square Surgical Center president.
