Here are four recent noncompete suits to know, as reported by Becker’s since March 13:

  1. Parker Fillmore, MD, a trauma surgeon and former trauma medical director at Boise, Idaho-based Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, is suing the hospital for wrongful termination and enforcing a noncompete clause that prevents him from working at other local hospitals.
  2. A former Centene executive is suing the company over what he called “wrongful, anti-competitive, and bullying behavior” related to a noncompete agreement.
  3. A jury ruled in favor of San Antonio-based Neurosurgery and Spine Consultants in a noncompete case, but Methodist Healthcare and an affiliate plan to appeal the $24 million verdict.
  4. Fort Wayne (Ind.) Orthopedics LLC is suing an orthopedic surgeon alleging he provided care at a competing group after he resigned.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
