21 points on ASC case volume by US region

VMG Health broke down the median total number of cases per center by U.S. region in VMG Health’s Multi-Specialty ASC Intellimarker 2017.

VMG surveyed 278 surgery centers around the country with an aggregate case volume of more than 1.3 million. VMG also incorporated 2015 and 2016 data into its updated 2017 figures.

Midwest: 3,648
Mountain: 4,285
Northeast: 5,219
Pacific: 3,394
South: 4,749

Total median surgical cases per OR, per year:
All facilities: 1,094
Atlantic: 1,122
Midwest: 1,022
Mountain: 1,097
Northeast: 1,430
Pacific: 1,044
South: 1,078

Total median non-surgical cases per procedure room, per year:
All facilities: 1,372
Atlantic: 1,362
Midwest: 1,153
Mountain: 1,427
Northeast: 2,314

South: 1,367
