1. General surgery represents 8 percent of case volume in all facilities, tied with ENT.

2. Average gross charges per general surgery case is $5,534.

3. Average net revenue per general surgery case is $1,545.

4. Average compensation for general surgeons is $360,595.

5. General surgeons in single-specialty groups are compensated less highly than general surgeons in multi-specialty groups, at $322,498 compared to $338,686.
