UnitedHealthcare offers new kind of health plan: 6 things to know

UnitedHealthcare created an independent subsidiary, Harken Health, which is a boutique-style health plan, according to Kaiser Health News.

Here are six things to know:

1. Chicago and Atlanta residents may sign up for Harken Health.

2. The health plan covers 35,000 members. Members may visit one of six Atlanta clinics or one of four Chicago clinics to receive free primary care.

3. Harken Health provides members unlimited physician appointments and a personal health coach.

4. Some Harken Health clinics have couches instead of exam tables, fostering a more relaxed environment.

5. The plan offers yoga, cooking and acupuncture classes, as well as provides mental health counseling.

6. UnitedHealthcare sought a way to provide affordable healthcare that is more attractive to a variety of consumers.
