Softheon extends Equity platform: 3 things to know

Stony Brook, N.Y.-based Softheon extended its Equity financial management and payment platform to “prevent illegitimate third party payments.”

Here’s what you need to know.

1. The extension addresses concerns over the unethical practice of sending consumers eligible for Medicare or Medicaid to the marketplace to obtain higher reimbursements rates.

2. Third party payments and cost-sharing of individual plans in the ACA are discouraged, but insurance companies have final say on their positions.

3. Softheon extended its platform to give payers the ability to address the problem as CMS finalizes regulations.
