Sen. Rand Paul questions expanded Medicaid’s survival post-ACA repeal: 3 things to know

While reaffirming his support for President-elect Donald Trump’s repeal-and-replace approach to the ACA, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) questioned whether states with expanded Medicaid benefits would get to keep the aforementioned benefits, Politico reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. Sen. Paul was on CNN Jan. 15, 2017 discussing the ACA.

2. He said a vast majority of Americans that gained insurance under the ACA did so through Medicaid. He said the fate of the expanded Medicaid benefits is still unknown.

“We have to decide what can be kept and what can’t be kept. And that’s going to be part of repeal,” Sen. Paul said.

3. Sen. Paul “stressed” the importance of having a replacement plan proposed the “same day” as the possible repeal.
