This week, the House of Representatives’ Energy and Commerce Committee’s subcommittee on health hosted a hearing on the impending change to ICD-10. The majority of panel members expressed support for the Oct. 1 deadline, though there were a few dissenting voices.
William Jefferson Terry, MD, a physician from Mobile, Ala., and Rep. Larry Buschon, MD (R-Ind.) and Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL) declared their opposition to the new code set, according to the report.
The majority of the panel voted to keep the transition on track. Barring any last minute change, ICD-10 will go into effect this October.
