Number of physicians accepting new ACA plans continues to plummet — 6 highlights

A recent SERMO survey found more physicians will not accept new patients with coverage under the ACA next year, according to mrc TV.

Here are six highlights:

1. The survey found 57 percent of physicians reported they will see new patients with ACA coverage in 2017.

2. Last year, the survey found 61 percent of physicians reported they would accept new patients with ACA coverage.

3. However, Medical Group Management Association conducted a 2014 survey, finding 76.5 percent of physicians reported their practice was accepting insurance plans offered on the ACA state and federal marketplaces.

4. Since the health law’s implementation, the number of physicians accepting ACA plans has plummeted 19.5 percent, mrc TV reports.

5. A recent Gallup poll found 76 percent of Americans rate their overall healthcare as “good” or “excellent.”

6. Going forward into 2017, Americans with ACA plans will face premium increases of nearly 25 percent, on average.
