1. The state senate approved the expansion with a 16 to eight vote on March 31.
2. Proponents of the expansion said the program offers health coverage to more than 48,000 adults.
3. Opponents of the expansion argued the program will put $1 billion of taxpayer money toward coverage for these adults, even though there is no promise of stabilization of healthcare costs or premiums.
4. With this program, the federal government will give New Hampshire more than $800 million.
5. Eligible adults will buy private insurance plans through the state’s health exchange with the federal Medicaid funds.
