Groups such as Koch Eye Associates — which currently treats around 3,000 of UHC’s Medicare Advantage members — were dropped and could lead to limited access to care for beneficiaries. Koch Eye Associates has the only ophthalmic ambulatory surgery center in Rhode Island and has integrated electronic medical records.
Since the group was dropped, Medicare Advantage beneficiaries in the state may need to go elsewhere for surgery or to the hospital.
