The case could affect insurance premiums across Maine, according to the report. Anthem is expected to say it has a right to build in a 3 percent profit and risk margin when determining individual health insurance premiums. The state believes it has the authority to trim that margin to keep premiums affordable for consumers.

The outcome could determine the price of premiums for approximately 11,000 Maine residents covered by Anthem. The court is not expected to immediately rule on the dispute.
