Here are four highlights:
1. The survey found 34 percent of Americans found it hard to afford care.
2. Since the ACA’s enactment, the health law has insured 20 million Americans.
3. The ACA has particularly benefited low-income Americans. In 2016, the number of uninsured families with incomes less than $48,500 was 19 percent, a significant decrease from 36 percent in 2010.
4. Sara Collins, vice president of healthcare coverage and access program at the Commonwealth Fund and the study’s lead author, said while the health law gave millions coverage, many may not be able to afford care due to their perception of their plans.
Ms. Collins told Bloomberg, “People with marketplace plans tend to view them as less affordable than people in employer-based plans, even if they’re paying the same premium. They pay out of pocket every month for their premium, where you don’t do that in an employer-based plan.”
