CMS officials hold MACRA discussion with family physicians — 5 takeaways

CMS officials discussed family physicians’ questions about the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act, according to American Academy of Family Physicians.

1. Although new regulations are designed to improve the industry, CMS Acting Administrator Andy Slavitt said MACRA is coming into effect during a time of “record low physician morale.”

2. Mr. Slavitt said all regulations are designed to be practice-driven and flexible.

4. The officials said the agency is establishing options emphasizing the importance of primary care as well as allowing PCPs to remain independent.
