Here’s what you should know:
1. The previous platform required physicians to submit data on multiple websites. The new system streamlines that process.
2. The 2017 submission period is from Jan. 2 to March 31, except for groups using the CMS Web Interface which is from Jan. 22 to March 16.
3. The new system allows for multiple data submission options including: Qualified Clinical Data Registries, qualified registries, attestation or the CMS Web Interface. The system also supports health IT vendor platforms that extract data from a certified EHR. The system also allows physicians to generate a non-certified report in an applicable file format and manually upload the file into the system.
4. After the performance data is entered, eligible physicians will see real-time initial scoring within Merit-based Incentive Payment System performance categories. The scores can change if new data is reported or if quality measures that were not benchmarked were used. The initial score does not take into account any sort of special status.
