The deadline for healthcare providers to apply for end-to-end ICD-10 testing in April has been extended by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services until Jan. 21 from its earlier, Jan. 9 deadline.
The most recent edition of Medicare Learning Network Connects says that for the week of April 26 to May 1, a sample group of healthcare providers will be able to participate in the testing to see if:
1. Providers and submitters are able to successfully submit claims containing ICD-10 codes to the Medicare Fee-For-Service claims systems.
2. CMS software changes made to support ICD-10 result in appropriately adjudicated claims.
3. Accurate remittance advices are produced.
Only 850 healthcare providers will be selected from a pool of applicants in order to participate in the end-to-end testing.
Testers who are going through the first round of testing — which is set to take place at the end of this month — may also apply to try again in April, the journal says.
To apply for the testing, visit this website and complete the appropriate forms by Jan. 21.
This will not be the last opportunity for providers to participate in end-to-end testing, officials said. Another round will be available the week of July 20.
