Cigna expanding telemedicine coverage: 3 things to know

Cigna will expand its coverage of telemedicine and remote care in 2017, MedCity News reports.

Here’s what you need to know.

1. Cigna is adding coverage for American Well’s Amwell service.

2. Cigna is making the coverage available to employee-sponsored plans, and through some individual plans.

3. Cigna has offered telemedicine services since 2013 when it added coverage for MDLive.

It’ll be expanding its offerings with MDLive to cover mental health and substance abuse therapies in January.
