CareCredit expands locations, scope of coverage: 5 things to know

CareCredit expanded to new locations and healthcare sectors.

CareCredit was established nearly 30 years ago initially for dental implant technology and has grown to include many other services. The card can help patients pay for higher deductibles and increasing out-of-pocket costs while allowing practices to collect their payment at the time of treatment.

Here are five things to know:

1. CareCredit expanded its network to include:

• General practitioners
• Family practice
• OB/GYN
• Pediatrics
• Orthopedics
• Urology
• Weight
• Podiatry
• Anesthesia
• Gastroenterology

The company already covered dental, veterinary, vision, cosmetic, chiropractic and hearing-health practices.

2. CareCredit also expanded to include diagnostic facilities — imaging, radiology and sleep — and ancillary services — ambulatory surgery centers, cord blood, orthotics and prosthetics.

3. The company expanded its acceptance to include 4,600 Rite Aid locations in 31 states.

4. In addition to expanding services, CareCredit updated its card with a new, contemporary design. Currently, cardholders can use both the new and existing cards and providers offering promotional healthcare financing with CareCredit can accept either card without changing their transaction or application process.

5. CareCredit recently reached a milestone: more than 200,000 healthcare providers and health-focused retail locations now accept the CareCredit card. Patients can also pay online with Pay My Provider web portal.
