Here’s what you need to know.

1. Premier surveyed health system C-suite leaders to understand better the value-based care relationship between providers and payers.

2. The findings suggest that due to slow VBC adaptation rates payers are causing health systems to explore alternatives.

3. In fact, 66 percent of C-suite leaders said they’d rather start their own health plan or work with a provider-owned health plan than wait for commercial payers.

4. Providers and payers are working together on care coordination and front-end incremental payment to physicians for care management.
