The addition of the on-site service model will place BCBSNC workers on location in physician and hospital billing departments, where they can process claims more quickly. BCBSNC has rolled out similar service models at WakeMed Raleigh and UNC Hospitals and UNC Physicians and Associates in Chapel Hill.
According to the report, more than half of all BCBSNC claims inquiries were resolved on the first day within a year of implementation at WakeMed — a 23 percent improvement from the previous year.
