Anthem partners with CVS for new pharmacy business — 4 key notes

Anthem is partnering with CVS Health to start IngenioRx, a new pharmacy benefits manager.

Here’s what you should know:

1. IngenioRx will offer clients a full suite of pharmacy benefit manager solutions starting in 2020.

2. Anthem has to wait until the conclusion of its current PMB contract before it can implement this business.

3. IngenioRx will serve Anthem-affiliated health plan customers as well as non-Anthem customers.

4. Anthem signed a five-year deal with CVS Health, effective Jan. 1, 2020. CVS will handle member and provider engagement as well as pricing services.
