AMA names physicians to CPT panel, RUC committee

The American Medical Association has appointed new board members to its Current Procedural Terminology Editorial Panel and AMA/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee.

Cardiologist Kenneth Brin, MD, PhD, was selected to chair the CPT Editorial Panel, which includes 17 members. Dr. Brin is a practicing physician and vice president of medical informatics at Advocate Medical Group.

Cardiothoracic surgeon Peter Smith, MD, was selected to chair the AMA/Specialty Society RUC Committee. The committee includes 31 physicians and 300 medical advisors. Dr. Smith is a professor and chief of cardiothoracic surgery at Duke University in Durham, N.C.
