Allscripts Looks to EHR Developers for Windows 8 App

Electronic health record vendor Allscripts struck up a deal with Microsoft and is expanding the types of outside applications that can be integrated with its EHR software, according to Information Week Healthcare.

Allscripts made a deal with Microsoft to expand its application development program and with American Well to integrate telehealth technology into EHRs.

The Microsoft partnership will encourage software firms to create Allscripts applications in the new Windows 8 operating system. Allscripts hopes to create an open app platform to contrast with the more closed approach of its competitors.
