How are physician practices handling HIPAA compliance? Here are nine statistics from the NueMD 2014 HIPAA survey.

•    58 percent of respondents have a HIPAA compliance plan
•    23 percent of respondents said they did not have a plan
•    19 percent of respondents were unsure of whether or not a plan was in place
•    62 percent of practice owners, managers and administrators said their business provided annual HIPAA training, but of these respondents only 65 percent they had proof
•    45 percent of respondents have a formal breach notification policy
•    33 percent of respondents have performed a risk analysis
•    27 percent of respondents have cataloged 76 percent to 100 percent of their electronic devices
•    31 percent of respondents were “very confident” that their electronic devices are HIPAA compliant
•    18 percent of responders were “very confident” that their mobile devices are HIPAA compliant
