Here are three key points from the study.
1. Last year, the Illinois fee schedule rates for HOPD services associated with knee and shoulder surgeries were on average 157 percent and 110 percent higher, respectively, than Medicare rates, according to the report.
2. The study also showed wide variation in workers’ compensation fee schedule rates for common procedures performed in ASCs when compared to Medicare rates.
3. On average, Illinois fee schedule rates for hospital inpatient stays were 54 percent to 119 percent higher than Medicare rates.
