Here’s what you should know:
1. The Joint Commission/CDC team collaborated with several professional societies to obtain setting-specific information, scenarios and infection prevention challenges to address.
2. The team also visited several ASCs to obtain feedback on the new guides.
3. According to a blog post, “Together with the CDC, we are confident the new guides will provide valuable and practical infection prevention and control resources.”
4. The Joint Commission is also developing an infection prevention checklist for outpatient settings based on CDC guidance. The checklist will be used as an audit tool or training guide for ambulatory care settings.
