The Joint Commission deletes requirement for deemed-status ASCs

The Joint Commission no longer requires ASCs with deemed status to collect data on medical appropriateness and necessity of procedures.

The requirement was developed to align with CMS’ Conditions for Coverage for ASCs.

CMS revised the regulatory language, which resulted in The Joint Commission removing the requirement.
