Under the new law, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation is required to make physician profiles available for public inspection, including an online database. The database will compile a wide range of information, including years in practice, hospital privileges, disciplinary actions, convictions, malpractice payments and more. If a physician reports inaccurate information, they face potential discipline.

The bill, which was sponsored by Rep. Mary Flowers (D-Chicago) and Sen. William Delgado (D-Chicago), takes effect immediately.
