Newsom Eye & Laser Center earns accreditation: 5 key notes

The Newsom Eye & Laser Center in Sebring, Fla., earned accreditation.

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care granted the ASC accreditation. Here are five things to know:

1. Newsom Eye & Laser Center opened in February for its first day of surgery.

2. T. Hunter Newsom, MD, owns the surgery center. He also operates locations in Carrollwood and South Tampa.

3. The surgery center includes services for cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment and diabetic retinopathy treatment.

4. The ASC will participate in multiple FDA studies, including one on segmental bifocal IOL and the light adjustable lens.

5. The ASC is designed for efficiency and less waiting time for treatment.
