New York Nurse Sentenced to 5 Years of Probation for Falsifying Records, Patient Negligence

A licensed practical nurse must surrender her license and serve five years of probation after pleading guilty last year to falsifying documents to cover up negligent care she delivered to a patient, according to an Albany Times Union report.

Alicia Smith worked at Northwoods Rehabilitation Center in Schaghticoke, N.Y. She is one of nine employees from the facility to be charged with improper care of a 53-year-old patient and doctoring records to cover up their acts.

The charges were filed by the state attorney general, according to the news report. The employees’ actions were uncovered by a hidden camera that was installed in the patient’s room.

The news report did not include details of what other serious violations the employees committed.
