According to the report, state officials discovered the patient infections after they were admitted to Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb for feeling unwell. One state official has referred to the infections as “bloodstream infection or pneumonia.” However, no Hepatitis B or C or HIV cases have been reported.

Department of Health officials investigated the cancer clinic and uncovered unsafe infection control practices and closed the facility on July 20, according to the report. Details of what those unsafe infection control practices entailed were not included in the report.
