Joint Commission drops 20 measures because of increase in hospital accountability: 4 things to know

Hospitals seeking The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval have 20 fewer measures to meet after the accreditation organization dropped them from their criteria, H&HN reports.

Here’s what you need to know.

1. The measures were consistently met by Joint Commission accredited hospitals.

2. The organization said when compliance is strong, in the 90th percentile, small improvements are hard to make.

3. Compliance was down for The Joint Commission. In 2015, compliance fell to 93.7 percent from 97.2 percent in 2014, but the report cautions about comparing the numbers directly because of the dropped measures.
