Prior to this decision, the Joint Commission certification decisions included certification, certification with follow-up review, contingent certification, preliminary denial of certification and denial of certification.
Under the current designations, certified programs meet all certification requirements, receive no requirements for improvement or successfully address any areas in need of improvement through evidence standards compliance.
Not certified programs fail to meet program requirements, request an on-site review to be changed to an “education visit” or fail to submit an ESC for requirements for improvement.
