The Joint Commission awarded Elizabethtown, Ky.-based Hardin Memorial Health its Advanced Total Hip and total Knee Replacement certification.

1. HMH is the first healthcare organization in Kentucky to earn the distinction.

2. The Joint Commission examined a number of metrics including physician-patient communication, evidence-based practice use and patient education.

3. Sandy Peace, HMH’s total hip and total knee replacement program director, said when a patient elects to have surgery, more than 60 people contribute to his or her continuum of care.
